Adam Mohammed Kassim (he/him/his) is a theatre director, educator, and arts facilitator. He has a love for developing new work and a passion for exploring stories that bravely investigate the messiness of the human condition.
Adam has collaborated on projects with numerous theatre companies including Mosaic Theater, Target Margin Theater, New Repertory Theatre, SpeakEasy Stage, and Boston Playwrights’ Theatre (BPT). His production of Leo McGann’s The Honey Trap received a sold-out run at BPT and was named one of the best productions in Boston 2017 by the ARTery (WBUR), as well as being nominated for multiple awards. Adam had the privilege of working with Kirsten Greenidge on the continued development of her play, Little Row Boat; Or, Conjecture, which was workshopped and presented online by Boston University School of Theatre.
In 2021, Adam was lucky enough to collaborate with Mosaic Theater in Washington, DC to adapt Dalia Taha’s powerful play, Keffiyeh/Made in China, to a web series. A feature-length cut of the piece was presented as a part of the DC Palestinian Film Festival in October 2021.
As an arts facilitator, Adam has more than 15 years of experience supporting universities and nonprofit performing arts organizations, including Office for the Arts at Harvard University, Northeastern Center for the Arts, Citi Center (now Boch Center), and the Boston University School of Theater. Currently, he works with the fabulous team at Target Margin Theater as Associate Artistic Director.
Adam received a BFA in Theatre Studies, concentrating in physical theatre and directing. He completed his MFA in Directing with a Certificate in Arts Leadership from Boston University in fall 2020. Adam is a proud member of the 2020/2021 O’Neill/NNPN National Directors Fellowship cohort.
Adam is an Associate Member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. He has received training in intimacy direction from Theatrical Intimacy Education and has studied physical theatre with Odin Teatret’s Roberta Carreri.
Adam grew up in South Carolina and believes he is the Southern, gay, Palestinian American embodiment of Anne of Green Gables. He lives in Brooklyn with his very supportive husband, Greg, and their two fur babies, Berry and Huck.
